Pondok Pesantren Modern Selamat was founded by Mr. H. Slamet Soemadyo on March 27, 1992 , to coincide with the date of 22 Ramadan 1412 H and its existence under the auspices of the Yayasan Wakaf Slamet Rahayu .

Since its establishment until now Pondok Pesantren Modern Selamat has been progressing quite rapidly , both in terms of academic and non- academic . From the academic side , the learning outcomes of students and alumni tend to increase a lot that can go on to college and has been active in the community . In terms of non-academic , infrastructure development and public confidence also increased from year to year .

Geographically Pondok Pesantren Modern Selamat are strategically located in the Downtown of Kendal , ( a district in the west of  Semarang ) and on the main route Semarang - Jakarta , making it easy and close access  . The existence of Pondok Pesantren Modern Selamat is in Jl . Soekarno- Hatta Village Jambearum , District Patebon Kendal regency , Central Java .

The background of the establishment of Pondok Pesantren Modern Selamat by human growth and development is rapidly increasing need for improving the quality of religious education , adult in order not to be swept away life increasingly difficult levels , full of unhealthy competition due to poor awareness , then the religious people will tend to be either both individual and social . In the implementation Pondok Pesantren Modern Selamat not tinged with interest groups including financial and life in the cottage environment .
